Introduction
The study of Geography helps Students make sense of their physical and human surroundings and extend their knowledge and understanding of more distant places. It provides a framework in which students can place local, national and international events and enable them to function more effectively as individuals and members of society.

Geography is a valuable medium in which students can develop attitudes and values towards local, regional, national and international issues.

AIMS

Geography aims to develop and promote an understanding of the following:-
  1. The nature of the Earth’s surface and the processes at work upon it
  2. The variety and character of places
  3. The complex nature of human activities and their interactions with different environments
  4. The spatial organisation of human activities
  5. “The many ways of the (Earth’s) unnumbered peoples” (Ben Okri 1991)

The Geography Department provides a general Geographical education in accordance with the National Curriculum Geography Order to all KS3 students, that caters for those that may not choose to study the subject at KS4. This will give a sound basis for those who do take the subject further. Fieldwork features highly in our work throughout the College, bringing practical skills and developing deeper geographical understanding.
