Year 7 Science builds on scientific knowledge and understanding from Key Stage 2 and makes connections between different areas of science. Students study twelve units through the course of the year in seven science lessons every fortnight.
The biology units include topics such as cells, environment and feeding relationships and will include a field trip to Thurlestone. The physics units include electrical circuits, and the solar system and beyond. Chemistry includes chemical reactions, and acids and alkalis.
Students will carry out investigations of different types, on their own and in groups – the emphasis on practical work wherever possible. ICT is used for data handling and for research.
These 12 units are assessed through a variety of assessment procedures including end of module tests and levelled tasks. A KS3 Science revision guide is a useful help for studies and is available from College.
