Head of RE and PSHE

TLR   2C (6386)

September 2017

We are seeking a dynamic Head of RE, Philosophy and PSHE to lead a highly motivated department of specialist teachers in a curriculum spanning all key stages. The subject has a high profile in the College, benefits from excellent facilities and enjoys strong results at KS3, KS4 and KS5. The successful applicant will have the energy, enthusiasm and commitment to build on this success and take the department forward in its delivery of an outstanding learning experience for all students.

As well as guiding the department through the recently reformed RE and Philosophy curricula, the successful applicant will embrace the challenge of leading the PSHE provision in the College and contributing to the subject’s development across Education South West more widely.

The Head of Department will be joining a team of exceptional teachers who are passionate about the role that the subject plays in the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of young people. All KS4 students take full-course GCSE RE (EDUQAS) and there is a good uptake of the Philosophy A-level (AQA) offered in the Sixth Form.

Middle Leaders at the College are given the freedom to develop their department area in accordance with their own vision for the subject as well as the core values held by stakeholders across the college and wider community. As a designated National Teaching School and EEF Research School, we work with colleagues across various networks to give Middle Leaders access to a rich programme of ongoing professional support and development. This includes the NCTL Headship, Senior and Middle Leadership Programmes for which Kingsbridge Community College are the providers in the South West. For educators aspiring to become the school leaders of the future, our organisation has the experience and track record to support you in making this a reality.

Are you ready to further your career and make a positive difference to the lives of students studying RE to better understand themselves and the world around them? If so, then we would welcome an application from you to join our team at a College ranked in the top 100 schools nationally for Progress 8 in 2016.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
