Participate, Spring 2012
Spring has arrived and the days are getting longer and within our latest Participate leaflet we feel there is a sense of new beginnings and endless possibilities. Let’s look forward by looking back for a moment and celebrate the success that was Bugsy Malone. We are so proud of our actors and musicians and we can honestly say our team was the biggest yet with a number of students taking key leadership roles and contributing directly to the show’s rip-roaring success. Some of our actors were also winning accolades as part of their LAMDA examinations and the Year 10 Shakespeare Schools Festival group tackled Othello which was performed at the Exeter Phoenix Theatre and here at college to great acclaim. Estria dance company came first in the South West regional heats of the UDO Street Dance Championships and then went on to place fifth in the National Championships in Blackpool. An amazing achievement made even more special because Estria was set up by Year 10 student, Ashton Born and the group has been mentored by Year 13, Ariel Born.
As ever, we have endeavoured to fill our Arts enrichment programme with exciting, fresh and challenging Arts, English and Media extra-curricular events that will happen over the Spring Term. There are some old favourites that continue to be extremely popular and successful as well as some amazing new events and opportunities. Don’t forget to explore the Participate Frog page for up to date Arts information on a weekly basis.
