| 27/11/2009 | U18 Girls Indoor Hockey Make West of England Finals | |
| The Girls indoor team played at Exeter University and ended up in second place which qualified them for the regional finals which take place in Cheltenham. Their first match was against Bludells School in which they had an extremely close game, eventually drawing 3-3. Goals were scored by Harriet Exley from a well rehearsed short corner routine and two from Giselle Ansley. Giselle was high in confidence after attending trials for England U18 squad the previous weekend and had a great match against Blundells. |

| In their second game, KCC had the upper hand but were not able to convert their chances due to some great keeping from Exeter School’s goaly. Ellie Malley had a superb game and a late goal was scored by Ella Baldwin to finish 1-0. In the final game against South Dartmoor, KCC gave away an early penalty flick and conceded another despite some good defending from Sarah Cullen and Harriet Exley. Kingsbridge were back in the game when Chloe Harvey scored to make it 2-1 but this was the eventual score. KCC and South Dartmoor now go on to represent Devon in the regional finals at Cheltenham Ladies College and we wish them the best of luck. Well done girls, it was a great team effort! | 27/11/2009 | Children in Need 2009 | |
| The kind-hearted souls who are staff and students at Kingsbridge did themselves proud for Children in Need this year, raising nearly £700 for Children in Need. It was all pyjamas in the Sixth Form and before college the canteen staff laid on a ‘Big Pudsey Bear breakfast’ and cookies. Year 7 baked a lorry load of cakes, students helped build a smile of pennies in the gym and buskers entertained the crowds. All in all a great day was had by all and an awful lot of money was raised by students and staff for less fortunate youngsters in our country. A huge thanks to all the parents who contributed and helped make this the success it was. |

| 24/11/2009 | Headteacher’s PA scoops silver award at major national awards ceremony | |
| The commitment, dedication and outstanding contribution of Elisabeth Collard, the PA to headteacher Roger Pope at Kingsbridge Community College in Devon was recognised at a major national award ceremony on Friday November 20 as she scooped the second place prize overall. The story of Elisabeth was one of just 30 inspiring entries to be honoured and celebrated at the Fourth National SecEd Headteacher’s PA of the Year Awards. In announcing Elisabeth’s silver award, SecEd editor Pete Henshaw said: “From stepping in to help support residential school trips, to being the reason, according to this head, that the governing body is so well prepared and effective, Elisabeth’s contribution to her school is phenomenal. On top of her PA duties, she is clerk to the governors, personnel officer, a crucial support for other staff and a student mentor and co-tutor. |

| Staff who appear in her office needing a sympathetic ear for their worries, always leave with a smile. Her consummate skill, reliability, conscientiousness and efficiency simply enables the head to do more. All this is put into an even more impressive and poignant context when you know that after being diagnosed with cancer Elisabeth was back in work a week after undergoing an operation. She subsequently remained at her post while having to deal with daily radiotherapy treatment. To quote the head: “Liz’s stoicism and upbeat optimism has been an inspiration to us all.’ “ Speaking of the awards in general, Mr Henshaw said: “The spirit and ethos of these awards is to recognise the crucial role that our PAs play in our schools. They are such a modest group of people and rarely is their vital work recognised as it should be. “The standard of entries was fantastic, and so to have made the finals and be recognised as one of our PA of the Years for 2009 is a real testament to the work of these 30 brilliant PAs and the invaluable contribution they make to their school and their headteachers day-in, day-out.” In total, headteacher’s PAs from 30 secondary schools across the UK attended the finals at London’s Landmark Hotel. They were selected from around 100 entries for this year’s awards. |

| 19/11/2009 | Christmas Shoe Boxes |
|
| The College has made a fantastic response to the Samaritans Purse Christmas Shoebox Appeal this year. Students and staff have been busily packing their gifts for those children around the world who have no home, shelter or security to bring a little Christmas cheer to their lives. Some people laughed when we set the aspirational target of 190 shoe boxes this year but, as always, the community of Kingsbridge Community College has risen to the challenge and surpassed it by completing an amazing 220 shoe boxes!! | ||
| Many, many thanks to all the families and individuals who have filled, wrapped and packed the boxes. Your contribution will really make a difference to a child somewhere in the world and let them know they are remembered. Happy Christmas! | ||
