20/09/2009 Henry Tozer, a student at Kingsbridge Community College, has won a place at the South West Music School.

This prestigious scheme gives opportunities to young musicians across the South West of England to receive high level musical training and to develop their potential to become tomorrow’s professional musicians. The package of specialist tuition and support is led and guided by artists from the professional music world whilst students remain members of their own school. Only 21 musicians are taken across the whole of the South West.
 
  Principal Roger Pope said, ‘I am delighted that Henry has been offered this unique musical programme and equally delighted that he will remain a member of the College whilst he is also able to benefit from this fantastic opportunity’.

10/09/2009 COLLEGE ACHIEVES A NEW RECORD

GCSE Results

Students at Kingsbridge Community College have broken previous records for GCSE results. 67% of students gained the government’s benchmark 5A*-C grades including English and Maths. This is the best ever result for the College, and well above the national average of 47%.
31% were at the top two levels of A*/A. 81% of all grades were A*-C level.
Remarkable results were achieved by high flying students with Henry Tozer and Kate Pope each achieving 11A* grades. 38 students gained at least 8A*/A.
Principal Roger Pope said ‘We are absolutely delighted with these results. We take pride in the achievements of students at all levels. Some have achieved well from a very low starting point on entry, and others have hit the jackpot. Many congratulations to them all.’

A’Level Results

Students and staff at Kingsbridge Community College are celebrating excellent A Level results this year. The pass rate of 99% was the highest ever and 46% of all entrants gained the top two A/B grades.
Top performing student Mary Foord-Weston gained 4 A grades and a distinction in the Biology Advanced Extension Award. She has gained a place at Merton College, Oxford to read Biology. Nine students achieved at least three A grades.
Principal Roger Pope said ‘Students have reaped the rewards of a lot of hard work and committed study. We are delighted that they have done so well and offer both students and staff many congratulations on their achievement.’
