The POWER is in your hands!
Is there something that you want to happen in College? Learning to Lead at Kingsbridge Community College provides you with the opportunity to take charge of the College and run things your way! If there is something that you feel passionately about and you are an active person who likes to work with others then this is a perfect opportunity for you to grab.
For example, one current Learning to Lead Team, who call themselves ‘Jazz Cad’ were fed up with certain toilets around the College looking old and nasty. Their idea is to design and decorate these toilets and they are making this happen. They are coming up with lots of designs and then they will be the ones that paint the toilets themselves! Once they have jazzed up the toilets, who knows what their next project will be?!
Another Team is the ‘Minibeast’ Team who are working on getting pets and animals into College for students to look after and enjoy!
When you form a Learning to Lead Team you need to be able to meet with your fellow team members at least one lunchtime a week so that you can discuss your ideas and get the ball rolling. In return for this, you can get your lunch from the Sixth Form Canteen. All Teams get trained by Mr Crocker in how to run meetings and how to reach the success that you are after.
We are always looking for new ideas, if you want to start a Team, a Club, or you want things to happen in the College then it’s over to you. It’s your responsibility! In other Colleges, students have set up a massive garden where they grow and sell their own vegetables. As well as this there are teams that raise money for charity and set up exchanges between other countries, set up a circus skills club, built shelters and more things to do outside in break times and so many more other things.
If you are interested or have any ideas, come and speak to Mr Crocker!
HOUSE POINTS
A House point will be awarded for attendance at Extra Curricular activities.
You will earn House points for the first attendance at a club, then the third, sixth, ninth attendance and so on by the member of staff running the activity.
The person leading the activity will give you a sticker which can then be exchanged for a House token in the House office every break-time. House points go towards prizes that include non school uniform days and a prize for the winning House at the end of the year.
