It is the aim of the department to construct an art curriculum which enables students to express themselves visually with confidence.

Throughout the different year groups the department has designed Schemes of Work which challenge students, develop their practical skills, extend their understanding of the work of a range of artists, designers and craftspeople and encourages them to be able to express themselves critically both verbally and in a written form.

We also create situations where students can exhibit their work to the wider community through exhibitions or through competitions.

Annual whole college art exhibition July each year in college hall
Annual Photography exhibition each July in Sixth Form common room
Work exhibited in Devon Digital Arts Award annually
Students regularly involved in countywide art workshops and initiatives, such as ‘Heaven in Devon’ in Exeter Cathedral.
Department is venue for Advanced Skills Teacher led workshop some involving artists and designers and craftspeople.
