Statement about Chemistry

Statement about subject, departmental ethos/mission statement

Chemistry is a very useful subject to have and is a popular choice along with the traditional subjects of Biology and Physics, but is also popular for those wishing to continue with a science, and is often taken with Arts and Humanities subjects.

Chemistry is one of the broadest subject areas ranging from drug developments to the structure of the atom.

Chemistry knowledge is increasing at an alarming rate. New techniques such as optical isomers with chiral drugs and analytical chemistry give us new tools for understanding how we can develop new drugs and treatments. Development of new structures through Nanotechnology.

Overview of GCSE
Chemistry GCSE can be taken alongside Biology and Physics resulting in 2 x GCSE grades, or it can be studied as the triple award resulting in 3 x GCSE’s
