Bonjour
KCC welcomes a group of French Sixth Formers coming in on Tuesday April 5th. They are hospitality and catering students from Rumengol, a small town in the Finistere region of Brittany. They will spend the day in college and partake in activities with our French A Level students who are preparing presentations on our college and region and who will also listen to information on Brittany. The link with the French college was established last year when we set up penpal contacts for the KCC students. The day should be a very worthwhile experience for both groups who will also be meeting up outside college to maximise their language practise!

The second year of the exchange programme between Kingsbridge Community College and IES l’Alcúdia de Crespins school in Spain proved to be another great success. Students stayed for a week with a Spanish host family, attended lessons at the school, and visited many of the local sights. Our pupils all agreed that they had learnt lot about Spanish life, and that living with a family had helped them understand the Spanish language much better. The people of l’Alcúdia made us feel really welcome, just like last year, and many parents and teachers commented on how well-behaved and polite our young people are. |

Language trip to France
Le Chateau de la Baudonnière: This is a new venture for some of our GCSE and A level students who will be spending a week at the centre in October 2009. The emphasis is on full linguistic immersion through a programme of activities and adventure (Climbing, Assault Course, Fencing, Bread making, Photography, Archery, Orienteering, Circus Skills & More!), and excursions. Evening entertainment adds to the experience and discovery of French culture.
The centre is situated in Normandy just at the base of the Cherbourg peninsula about 6 Kilometers north of the Cathedral city of Avranches. Students will experience first hand the natural beauty of the area and the 100 acre estate with lakes, rivers and native woodland. Language trip to Valencia in Spain
As part of our ongoing “e-twinning” programme with IES Sivera Font de Canals secondary school in Spain, a group of Kingsbridge students in Years 10 to 12 will be spending a week in October living with Spanish pupils, attending school, and getting to know the local area.
The Spanish pupils will be coming to Kingsbridge for the “return leg” next March. IES Sivera Font de Canals is situated in Alcúdia de Crespins, near to the historic town of Xátiva and within half an hour of Valencia. An exciting programme of excursions has been drawn up, and the trip promises to give the group a unique insight into life in Spain while, of course, helping their fluency and confidence in Spanish
