Opening Minds Statement
The Opening Minds (OM) Year 7 programme is a competency based curriculum. This focuses on skills and learning for life which are built around meaningful assignments and tasks. The process and planning of tasks are often as important as, or even more significant than, the end product! Students are peer and teacher, and self-assessed on their ability to meet the OM competencies which are categorised using the acronym: CLIPS:
CITIZENSHIP
LEARNING
INFORMATION
PEOPLE
SITUATIONS
The processes and reflection on planning, success and failure are just as important as the content itself. Students use the CLIPS at the beginning and/or end of lessons to review progress.
