Equality and Diversity

Equality and Diversity at Kingsbridge Community College

Kingsbridge Community College is committed to providing an outstanding learning community where individuals thrive; it is our duty to ensure that all members of our community can freely express their individuality in the knowledge that they will never experience prejudice or discrimination. We are also committed to the use of positive action to eliminate disadvantages experienced by students with particular protected characteristics by targeting specific measures and strategies at these students.

In order to achieve these aims, and in conjunction with the Academies South West Single Equality Policy (here) we have set out a series of Equality objectives that cover the protected characteristics as defined by the Equality Act 2010 and outlined below:

  • sex
  • race
  • Disability[1]
  • religion or belief
  • sexual orientation
  • gender reassignment
  • pregnancy or maternity
  • age (as an employer)
  • marriage or civil partnership

As well as setting out equality objectives we also assess our existing and new policies and practices to ensure that we comply with the Public Sector Equality duty and advance equality of opportunity.

The Kingsbridge Community College Equality Objectives and specific measures we are taking to ensure that the objectives for 2016-2018 are met can be found here.
