PTFA

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome to the PTFA. We comprise of a small committee supported by a large number of parent volunteers for a variety of fundraising events spread throughout the academic year.

We meet in the staff room at Kingsbridge Community College 6-8 times each year (depending on forthcoming events). Our meeting dates will be published on this website and by parent messaging.

The aim of the PTFA is twofold:-

Our first priority is to raise funds to enhance the experience of our children within the school by providing additional funds for items to which the school budget will not stretch.

Secondly, we are here to welcome new parents into the school community and provide events and functions which enable all parents to socialise and feel a part of their child’s secondary education.

Our main fundraising event is St Nick’s Fair at Christmas and this is where we need most volunteers. You can do as much or as little as you wish – before, during or after the fair. There is always lots to do and any help is warmly and gratefully accepted.

Throughout the rest of the year we will arrange social events including the very popular Summer Soiree. This is family event where students showcase their musical, artistic and photographic talents and where everyone can enjoy a barbecue, a glass of wine and some time to catch up with friends. In recent years we have also staged the incredibly popular ‘Funathlon’ for those with a sporty outlook on life!

Joining the PTFA is a great way to meet other parents and familiarise ourselves with KCC. Many parents find being involved with the PTFA helps them to continue to feel part of their child’s school life and experiences.

There is never any pressure to be involved but any help is greatly appreciated, on your own or as a group of friends. Please find us on Facebook and ‘like’ the page, in this way you will receive up to date notifications about meetings, activities and ways in which you can help us – one of which is by ‘liking’ our posts on Facebook and ‘sharing’ posts so that we reach a much wider audience.

We look forward to seeing you soon but if you have any queries or ideas for fundraising/events please contact one of the co-chairs:

Thank you to all those people who were able to attend the AGM for the PTFA. We saw some new faces and are relieved to have installed a new committee with a shared chairing arrangement. The PTFA will live on and we have events mapped out for this year - some successful favourites and some fresh new ideas to help raise funds for the college.
Our co-chairs are Lara Christopher, James Morris and Kate Hughes. We welcome them warmly. Well done and thank you for stepping up.

COLLEGE FUND

The Kingsbridge Community College PTFA is a charity that raises funds to buy additional resources for the college. In the past we have purchased several major items, including two minibuses and a cutting-edge IT suite for the new sixth form block. We have also paid for a host of other extra resources such as software, books, art and cooking materials, and funded extra-curricular activities such as sports clubs, book groups and college productions.

We ask each family to contribute an annual donation of £15 per child to the PTFA. This gives us a reliable source of funds to help the college throughout the year. We would be grateful if you could fill in one of the forms below (A or B), indicating your choice of payment method. Return this with any cash or cheque (made out to Kingsbridge Community College PTFA) via the College Reception. If you choose to pay by standing order, please also send a completed standing order form (below) to your bank or building society. Whichever method of payment you choose, please fill out the GIFT AID option (Form A) if you possibly can.

THE VALUE OF GIFT AID

Gift Aid is the means by which the Chancellor enables charities to reclaim tax on any donation. Providing you pay income tax or capital gains tax, KCC PTFA is able to reclaim the tax you have paid on your donation. This means that for every gift-aided £I donated we can reclaim back an additional 22p! Filling out the Gift Aid form costs you nothing but is a huge benefit to the college and our children.

With many thanks on behalf of the PTFA, and the College,
