Challenge Week Year 7-10
Challenge Week for Years 7-9
Take a second or two to think about some of the great things you might have achieved so far in your life like learning to swim, ride a bike, walk, talk, sing, play an instrument, ski, make a meal for your family or even give your very first presentation at the front of the class. Your journey through life has already been jam packed full of challenges! Meeting challenges helps to bring out strengths and abilities that you never knew you had and, when you take on new challenges, you bring new energy and excitement into everything you do.
Challenge Week at KCC brings so many opportunities for you to be an opportunity magnet – “I’m going to try that“. Having a go at something new sometimes requires us to be a little brave. It might mean doing something without your friends but meeting new people and making new friends is all part of the exciting experience. Facing new situations and being part of new activities helps to build confidence and resilience and gives us the determination to work hard and get better at something.

Challenge Week for Year 10
Year 10 Discovery Challenge Week 2026, 13th to 17th July 2026
Year 10 Discovery Challenge Week is an important part of supporting careers exploration and education at KCC: a vital aspect of preparation for life beyond school. The week is designed to give students different options so that they can choose to explore the world of work in the way they will gain the most benefit from.
The first option is the popular a two-night leadership residential on Dartmoor, a fun and active way to develop all-important employability skills, such as leadership, communication and problem solving.
Secondly, we want all students to take part in a Work Experience; they have the choice of:
- ‘Own plan’ work experience – many students have been successful in the past at finding and organising excellent placements and have gained some extremely useful understanding of the world of work. KCC support with vetting and checking all placements via the Unifrog platform (see support documents below).
Sector experience – we have also developed a range of Sector Experiences which allow students exposure and practical experiences within an industry without having to find an individual placement (see flyers for each sector below).
