New KCC Principal meets parents

9th July 2019

New KCC Principal Tina Graham addressed a packed Hall for her first meeting with parents of the September Year 7 intake. She outlined three key beliefs that will define her leadership of Kingsbridge College from September : high academic expectations,  character and impeccable behaviour.

Mrs Graham talked about her commitment to Kingsbridge since arriving as a geography teacher in 1999, and her roots in the community. She believes strongly in high academic standards as the driving force of the college. Exam success opens the gateways of the future for young people. Five Kingsbridge students have received conditional offers for Oxford and Cambridge this Autumn, the highest ever, and a sign of the continuing academic excellence of the college.

She said that academic success on its own is not enough. She outlined the opportunities for extra curricular activities such as music and Ten Tors. She told the audience, “ It is vital for our young people to develop strength of character.  Our community depends on it.”

She then outlined her expectation of “impeccable behaviour” which was grounded in kindness, and her determination to make sure those standards were consistent at all times.

The Executive Leader of  Education South West, Roger Pope, closed the meeting by looking forward to ” the next exciting phase of the KCC journey.”
